I have always had a love affair with the ocean. Family holidays in the summertime were my favourite, with sun-kissed skin, salty hair, and memories to cherish forever.

Fast forward to the present day, I live right near the beach and am constantly covered in sand, salt, and surf wax. Along with my three kids, we spend our days dancing on the waves, getting smashed in the shorey, skim boarding, or just hanging at the beach with friends.

We always make sure to travel as much as we can. On our yearly family trips, we're always hunting for waves, the best snorkelling spots, and adventures along the way. Think Fiji, Hawaii, and Mexico—these trips are my all-time favourite memories, where the smells bring back the fun and happiness of the ocean and summer.

Sonny was born from my daily mix of beach-scented products: my favourite coconut-scented fragrance, various sunscreens, hair products, moisturisers, tanning oils, and the surf wax-scented air freshener in my car. Friends would always tell me I smelled like summer and ask what I was wearing. When I explained it was a mix of everything, I thought, why not bottle it?

As for the name, I wanted it to be authentic and fun, capturing the essence of the brand. My daughter and I brainstormed for a long time, trying different words like beach, summer, and salty in various languages, but nothing felt right. It was a frustrating task until Ellie, my daughter, suggested, "Why don’t you just call it Sonny?" That was it! It was perfect, not only because my son’s name is Sonny, but because it encapsulated the brand perfectly.

Ellie, my daughter, is the face of the brand. She has been modelling for a while, making her a perfect and authentic representation of our family and business. Her involvement adds a genuine touch to Sonny, blending our family's love for the ocean with our business.
